After being a seventh round pick in the 2011 Amateur Draft, Smith spent almost six full seasons in the minors before cracking the major leagues late in 2016. I guess one could say the Kevan Smith was a bit of a late bloomer. There are a couple of options that just became available from non-tenders that could help stabilize the situation. Jacob Nottingham could, potentially, be a solid backup or breakout as a starter, but banking on that could be costly.
